¡Vive Tu Vida! (GUGM)
¡Vive Tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving! is the HHC’s annual family physical fitness event.
The 2009 Event is scheduled for Sat., Nov. 7
9am-1pm, Mason Park, 541 S. 75th St., Houston, 77023.
The first annual event was held in November 2007. The national sponsor is the National Alliance for Hispanic Health. It is a free family fitness celebration where we offer free health screenings, health education activities, fun physical fitness activities and contests, healthy snacks and water, and a day of fun for the whole family. We are always on the lookout for sponsors and volunteers so please contact us if you would like to be a part of Vive Tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving!

Put on your dancing shoes!!! We have recently confirmed that Strictly Street Salsa will be participating this year. You will have an opportunity to learn this beautiful and fun dance from skilled professionals at the 2009 ¡Vive tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving! event.

The 2008 event was held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Cossaboom Family YMCA. We could not have asked for a more pleasant day. This 2nd Annual event was a wonderful success and was recognized with proclamations from the City of Houston and Harris County. With the help of 98+ volunteers and 30 booth vendors, we engaged hundreds of individuals in conversations about health and provided education and exposure to active lifestyles in a fun-filled environment.
As a result, we were able to provide the following screenings:
- 28 Tetanus shots, 73 flu shots, and 83 blood pressure, glucose and lipid panels from Christus Healthy Living Mobile Clinic
- 75 Parkinson’s Disease screenings also were provided by Baylor College of Medicine, Parkinson’s Disease Center.
